Deep
in the heart of the Highlands, on the shores of the mighty Loch
Lachart, you'll find Glen Lachart - the sleepy Scottish village whose
everyday antics once drew the attention of what seemed at the time like
the entire world!
When we first launched our wee
community website back in 1999 we didn't know what to expect, but we
didn't in all honesty expect very much. Within weeks,
however, it was clear our unique way of life appealed to a lot of
people, and we soon found ourselves on radio, television, and in
the newspapers and it wasn't long before there were more tourists than
locals walking the village street!
To this day we have no idea how it all happened.
Nevertheless,
for about the ninth time in just two years, we're back with an entirely
new web incarnation, ready to do it all again!
Those of you who visited the previous versions of
Glen Lachart will find much of what was here before still
remains. We are still the only site on the internet to boast news
provided by the Glen Lachart Star, and continue to play host to
features written by some of the more literate of the village's 67
residents. Hopefully you will also find an improvement in the
navigation structure, with the countless "sub-sites" of previous
incarnations having been replaced by a single main site. As the
site develops we will also be adding a shop and various other goodies
which I won't yet reveal! One of the most important parts of the
old site was the forums, though sadly all the content of these has been
lost in the mists of time. However, I'm happy to say we have an
entirely new forum, and I look forward to contributing towards it and
helping build it back up to the heights it reached before. Thank you for visiting Glen Lachart Online - Your Local Highland Hideaway! I hope you join in the fun. -- Duncan Burns Editor Glen Lachart Star |
